A POPULAR plant fair will return to Whitchurch in March.

The Plant Hunters' Fair will visit Alderford Lake on Sunday, March 8, and promises to offer plant lovers the perfect opportunity to prepare their gardens for the summer.

The fair will feature various plants for purchase, grown by specialist nurseries, as well as help and advice from experts and professionals.

Janet Blow, who helps organise the fair, says the it provides the perfect inspiration for gardening, ahead of growing later in the year.

"It's a great time to get out in the garden and get planning and planting for the year ahead and where better to get inspiration than at this Plant Hunters Fair," said Janet.

"The plants are lovingly grown by small specialist nurseries, who at this time of year will come laden with flowering bulbs, early flowering perennials, shrubs and trees to provide instant colour and also lots of later flowering plants to get planted for colour into the summer and beyond.

"Now's the time to think ahead and plan that dream border for your garden.

"These enthusiastic plants people are on hand to give honest, straightforward advice on choosing and growing the right plants for your garden."

The Lakeside Café will also be serving breakfasts, lunches and hot drinks throughout the day and visitors can also enjoy a stroll round the lake, for a fee of 50p, and see the wide variety of wildlife that frequents the lake.
