Hampshire commuters will face a third day of disruption, a railway company has revealed.

South Western Railway (SWR) announced at 7am train services between Romsey and Salisbury will be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Disruption is expected until further notice.

This comes after Network Rail announced yesterday there is "no timescale for repair" after a landslide blocked the railway line between Romsey and Salisbury on Tuesday, February 18.

Commuters were warned they could face two months of travel disruption as the incident meant the railway needs "substantial repair work" to get everything back on track, according to SWR.

A spokesperson from Network Rail said: "Engineers continue to assess the damage caused by a landslip between Salisbury and Southampton on Tuesday afternoon, 18 February.

"Since the landslip, it has not been possible to run services.

"Engineers are undertaking investigations at the site to find out what caused the landslip which happened on a railway embankment between Salisbury and Dean."

They added: "From an initial inspection, they have observed that the embankment has slipped, leaving the track unsupported over approximately 20 metres causing the track to dip, making it unsafe to run trains.

"Passengers are advised to check with South Western Railway and Great Western Railway before they travel for details about replacement buses. Currently, there are replacement buses from Salisbury to Southampton."

SWR has been contacted for comment.
