THERE was a time when Sholing in Southampton was a quiet rural area with thatched cottages and empty country roads.
Today it’s one of the city’s busiest urban suburbs far removed from when this photograph, from the Daily Echo’s archive, was taken in decades past.
The scene, captured between the two world wars, shows cottages that once stood in Botany Bay Road.
