While visiting Romsey tip today I was informed politely by a member of staff that my van permit was due to run out soon, even though it was issued on May 2, 2017, and I had only used it five times out of a possible 36 visits in three years.
I went straight onto the website only to be asked for a £15.00 administration fee.
I've never had to pay that before. I got on to Hampshire County Council and after numerous automated voice messages got through to talk to a real person, who then told me that the charge had just been brought in to cover the costs of the permits to save the council money.
I can't believe that we now have to pay extra to get rid of more of our waste.
We already pay added costs for green waste. In these times of being advised to recycle as much as we can to save the planet I can't understand why we still have to pay even extra to do so.
If anyone from the council cares to drive up to the tip they will see the constant fly tipping that goes on along the lanes. Having to now pay more will only make the situation worse, surely.
I know it's only a £15.00 charge but exactly were does it end?
