A HAMPSHIRE MP has welcomed a new bill to increase investment into the NHS.

MP for Fareham, Suella Braverman, has welcomed the new NHS Funding Bill, which would see local authorities like Fareham receive a sizeable share of the funding.

Suella noted that by 2023-24, under the proposals in the Bill, at least an additional 345,000 children and young people under 25 will be able to access support via NHS-funded mental health services.

This comes as the Government has committed to increase investment in the NHS by £33.9 billion annually by 2024.

Suella said: “In the light of the demands and challenges in the local area with young people’s mental health there is a great opportunity here for more funding and more co-ordination so that Fareham Community Hospital can be better harnessed, so that our young people, and also other people who need mental health support, can use the facility and capitalise on it in the most effective way.”
