CAN anyone enlighten me as to why Eastleigh Council is even considering expanding Southampton Airport?

I use the airport a lot and I actually think it's a great airport to help connect the south coast to the rest of the UK but it is lacking in one thing – passengers!

Over the past 18 months I have noticed a huge difference in the number of flights and the number of passengers in the terminal.

The shops now shut early due to low demand and security is very much queueless.

I can't see how they justify building 600 new car parking spaces when the top floor of their current car park gets shut each weekend, again due to lack of demand I assume.

Although I support the expansion I can't see how this is something that this little airport needs at the moment.

Surely building back up their current business should be number one priority?

Having a small airport with some passengers much be more financially viable than a larger airport with no passengers?
