TODAY Sarisbury Green, not far from Bursledon, still has the green, and St Paul's church remains in the same place as it did when it was photographed for this postcard, thought to be from the 1920s.
The spire of the United Reform Church can be seen on the left and still stands today.
This peaceful scene shows youngsters, together with older residents, playing and chatting on the green itself.
These days the lonely horse and cart would not stand much of a chance on the busy A27 linking Southampton to Fareham.
