A PUB which had rats spotted in its seating area is continuing to be monitored by authorities as they try to contain the rodents.

Customers were shocked when rats were spotted in the Walnut Tree Farm pub and carvery last week, and now Test Valley Borough Council and the pub's staff are trying to keep the rodents at bay.

The pub took immediate action when they found out the rats were scurrying around the "outdoor seating area".

The council are also trying to help the pub by putting rat bait on the land adjacent to the Walnut Tree Farm.

A Walnut Tree Farm spokesperson said: "As soon as we were made aware of this issue we undertook a number of measures to ensure there continued to be no entrance by any pests into the building, which we’ve been keeping the council updated on."

A Test Valley Borough Council spokesperson said: "A pest control officer visited this morning, and did some rat baiting on land adjacent to the pub, which should help alongside what the pub are already doing anyway.

"We’ll revisit later this week to carry on monitoring it all."

Daily Echo:

As previously reported, a visitor of the Greene King pub, Rebecca Spacagna, saw the rats as she went in for breakfast.

Rebecca said: “We went out to the conservatory and there were two rats running around where the kids sit.

“We told staff members and they laughed."

The 36-year-old, who works in catering, said they will not be returning and more rat traps need to be sorted.

The pub in Adanac Drive, Nursling received a 5 out of 5 hygiene rating in their November 2018 inspection.
