SOUTHAMPTON NHS Treatment Centre has appointed John McMenamin as the new hospital director.
John spent 10 years in the army as an officer, serving in cavalry, airborne and intelligence units.
On leaving the armed forces he joined the NHS where he was a general manager for theatres, anaesthetics and critical care.
He then took up hospital director roles in the private sector with Nuffield and BMI, where he was recently hospital director of the latter’s facility in Winchester.
Outside of work his interests include adventure sports, sailing and rugby.
He said: “I am delighted to have joined Southampton NHS Treatment Centre.
“As someone who has worked in senior hospital management in the region I have been aware of the Treatment Centre’s outstanding reputation for some time.”
He added: “I am looking forward to working with the team to enhance still further the excellent levels of treatment and care we provide for every single one of our patients.”
Southampton NHS Treatment Centre, based at Royal South Hants Hospital, is run by Care UK, the largest independent provider of care services in the country.
It is the the only acute hospital in Hampshire to be rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
