A LEADING New Forest museum is preparing to showcase a selection of images from the past.

Photographs taken almost 100 years ago will be among the pictures on display at St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery in Lymington.

The photographs were taken during royal visits, street parties and other events min the Lymington area.

A St Barbe spokesperson said: "We have looked through our collection and collated a selection of nostalgic images each with a story to tell.

"These include carnival pictures from the 1920s and colourful images from the 1970s, plus celebrations for the coronation of George V and the visit of Queen Elizabeth II in 1966.

"Numerous local events are covered including fetes, anniversaries and even circus animals parading down the High Street."

The event - Tea and Memories - will be held on Tuesday, January 28 between 2pm and 4pm.

"All visitors are welcome to drop in for tea and biscuits, and to share their memories or just join in to look through the lovely photos of times gone by, which are sure to make you smile."
