A FORMER snooker club which has been vacant for more than four years could be demolished to make way for eight new homes.
The plans have been tabled by applicant Parnoso Limited, who originally submitted proposals to build a four-storey flat block on the site last year.
But now the company are looking to demolished Riley’s American Pool and Snooker Club, in Church End, and put in eight three-bedroom family homes.
The site will include 10 parking spaces and cycle storage as well as landscaping in the area.
This is the third application to build on the Shirley site – which neighbours St Boniface church – that Parnoso has submitted, having previously withdrawn its proposals early in 2018 for 19 flats.
The 2019 proposals were overturned at Committee meeting following a number of objections on the grounds of over-development, parking and design.
The site is located behind the main Shirley Road and is accessed via Church End.
The snooker club is adjacent to St Boniface church, which is a locally listed building
In the new plans, each house will have private garden between 22 square meters and 49 square metres in front and rear gardens and also balconies.
There will also be a communal garden area that terraced home should have access to.
Five of the homes will have two double bedrooms on the first floor and a master bedroom and en-suit cited in the roof.
The other three with have three bedrooms on the first floor.
