Road closures, flooding and power cuts in Hampshire following Storm Brendan

Hampshire County Council has announced that they are dealing with more than 200 incidents across the county.

This morning, all South Western Railway trains through Romsey have been cancelled due to flooding.

The cancellations are not expected to be cleared until 11am this morning.

In Ower, the A36 has been closed from A3090 West Wellow roundabout to A27 Brickworth Road after flooding blocked the road, and in Romsey there has been a power cut in the SO51 area.

The power went off at 5.39am this morning and is not expected back on until 9.30am.

On their website, a statement from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks said: "We’re sorry for the loss of supply.

"We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.

"Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can."

This morning, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to three cars stuck in flood water within one hour. 

The cars were stuck in Totton, Hook and Brook.

On Ashurst Bridge Road, Totton, one crew from St Mary's and one crew from Hardley had to rescue two men from the water at 8.12am.

In Brook, New Forest, three crews attended - two from Redbridge and one from Lyndhurst - to rescue one adult female was rescued from ford using RSV winch and assisted to safety at 7.25am.

One crew from Basingstoke and one crew from Whitley Wood were called to  Chandlers Green, Hook, at 8.05am to a car stuck in 2ft of water. 

One male and one female were rescued and assisted from car.

Last night, multiple trees blocked roads throughout Hampshire as winds at speeds of up to 50mph battered the county.

The left lane of Millbrook Road West was closed by a fallen tree and Upper Deacon Road, Windermere Avenue and Adnave Crescent were also blocked.

A tree also fell on Western Esplanade between Civic Centre Hill and Mountbatten Way blocking the road just before midnight.

A tree blocked a road in the New Forest, at the junction connecting Silver Street and Barrows Lane.

This morning, the B3400 between Burley Lane and Berrydown Lane, Overton, was also blocked by a fallen tree.

Hampshire Roads Police are working to remove the tree and unblock the road.
