EMERGENCY services rushed to rescue a man who crashed down a 10ft embankment in Test Valley this morning.

Firefighters from Romsey Fire Station were alerted to the accident at 00.03am in Dunwood Hill.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance helped pull the casualty out of the embankment, who had minor injuries.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Only one car was involved in the collision and police were also on the scene."

The man was taken to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service.

The stop call came in at 00.53am.

A spokesperson from South Central Ambulance service said: "We were contacted by Hampshire Police at 23:32 yesterday informing us of a single vehicle accident on Frenches Lane/Salisbury Road at East Wellow which resulted in the car leaving the road and ending up down an embankment and in a field.

"We sent an ambulance, our Hazardous Area Response Team and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to the scene.

"The male driver had sustained chest injuries and following initial treatment at the scene, he was then taken in a stable condition by road to University Hospital Southampton."

Hampshire police and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance have been contacted for comment.
