A CHARITY football match is coming to St Mary’s this year with big name celebrities and ex-footballers.

The Big Match, organised by Neil Humphries, has had stints at Millwall and Farnborough and is now coming to the South Coast at Saints’ football ground.

Neil has confirmed Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions winners, dance act Twist and Pulse will be performing at the event.

Saints legend, Matt Le Tissier will be attending the dinner event in the evening.

There has been no further names announced for the football match, although Neil said to expect some ex-footballers and reality stars from the likes of The Only Way is Essex.

Neil said: “I cannot wait - we have played in some fantastic stadiums but this will be one of the favourites.

“We have had some big names in the past, more will be announced soon.

“I am so looking forward to it.”

The game, which takes place on Saturday, May 23 will feature a kids training session in the morning which is available to anyone aged five to 15.

Kids will have to raise a minimum of £50 for charity.

They will also receive a Big Match Kidz branded goody bag and medal.

Neil added: “For some kids it might be the only medal they ever get, so to give kids the opportunity to play in a premier league stadium is great.”

Then, the main event will take place in the afternoon with what promises to be a star-studded line up with all money raised going to charity - you can also sign up to take part.

The Big Match first took place in 2012 and since then, they have raised more than £350,000 for charities over the last eight years.

Previous big names to take part include David Seaman, Neil Ruddock and Gareth Gates who have all put their boots on to raise money for charity.

The football match will be 90 minutes long.

There will also be a dinner event in the evening, which is the finale to the day, and it is confirmed that Matt Le Tissier will attend.

Tickets to watch the match are not yet available, but they will be available from Southampton FC’s website and The Big Match website.
