Having read your article ‘Petition for more safety measures’ which highlighted concerns for pedestrian safety on Woodmill Bridge after the proposed installation of traffic lights, I found the Council’s response perplexing.
It was suggested that pedestrian safety had been taken into consideration, and that a puffin crossing is planned where Riverside Park walk crosses Woodmill Lane.
How will a crossing installed after the bridge protect pedestrians on the bridge?
Temporary traffic lights here have shown us how much faster cars travel when they have right of way, and this will exacerbate the already precarious safety situation.
If the Council doesn’t agree, they may wish to comment on how many times they have had to replace the bollards after they have been hit by cars.
I hope it continues to just be the bollards that get hit, not any users of the bridge.
