A PENSIONER who failed to give details to police about an alleged driving offence has been hit with a £1,200 court bill.

Doctor Kumaraswamy Balachandra, 80, failed to give information to officers about the identity of a driver alleged to have committed a speeding offence.

Balchandra denied the offence.

But at Southampton Magistrates' Court, Balachandra was proved guilty in his absence of the offence of failing to give the identification of the driver of a vehicle was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

Balchandra, of Guildford Drive, Chandler's Ford, was fined £600, ordered to pay court costs of £620 and a victim surcharge of £60.
