A POLICE investigation has been launched after a Southampton Co-op store was subject to a burglary in the early hours of the morning.
The shop, located on Portsmouth Road, Southampton, was targeted by a group of men at approximately 1:15am this morning.
A Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.12am on Monday November 18 to a report of a burglary at the Co-op on Portsmouth Road. It was reported a group of men with a white van were trying to break into the back of the shop. Officers were deployed to the area and carried out a search, however no one was located.
"The van was recovered and is being forensically examined."
Enquiries are still ongoing, and anyone who saw something suspicious, or has information on the incident is encouraged to contact the 101 service, quoting the reference number 44190413847.
