SOUTHAMPTON NHS Treatment Centre has achieved top marks from its patients in the national Friends and Family Test.

The hospital’s Ophthalmology Service, Day Ward, Endoscopy Service, Inpatient Ward and Physiotherapy Department all scored 100% from patients during the month of October.

The Physiotherapy Department scored a remarkable 100% for each month over the past year, while the Ophthalmology Service has achieved a top score for 11 months out of the past 12.

Southampton NHS Treatment Centre achieved an overall score of 97.1% during October in a poll of 1657 patients.

The Friends and Family Test is a national measure and part of the NHS’ commitment to improving the patient experience. The basis of the questionnaire is “how likely would you be to recommend this service to your friends and family?”.

Southampton NHS Treatment Centre is the only hospital in Hampshire to be rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission and is popular with patients. Reviews from the hospital’s Facebook page include: “The staff who looked after me were kind and considerate and made what I thought would be a traumatic experience into something 100% bearable, and that is something I never thought I would say!”; “ Thank you so much, I am glad I was able to choose you to help me”; “They are a great example of a fabulous team working together in a challenging NHS environment”, and; “I have worked in the NHS and also in a private hospital and the NHS Treatment Centre would be my first choice every time.”

Andrew Oakerbee, Acting Hospital Director at Southampton NHS Treatment Centre, commented: “The information we receive from the Friends and Family Test is vital to our ongoing commitment to providing the highest standards of care, so my thanks go to those of our patients who took the time to complete the survey.”
