MOTORISTS are being warned of 13 major sets of roadworks which are taking place across the South of England.

The road improvements will take place from October 28 until November 3 and will affect Southampton, as well as parts of Hampshire.

Highways England have said they aim to carry out the works with the aim of "causing as little disruption as possible".

These are the roadworks that are set to go ahead:

M27 junctions 3 to 4 Southampton, Hampshire: bridge reconstruction

Work to maintain journeys and ensure road user safety by replacing the Romsey Road bridge near junction 3 continues this week.

A 50mph speed restriction is in place on the M27 in both directions beneath the bridge until winter.

M27 junctions 4 Southampton to 11 Fareham, Hampshire: smart motorways

Work to improve journeys by converting the M27 into a smart motorway continues this week.

There will be 24-hour narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction will be in place until 2021.

M3 junctions 11 to 10 Winchester, Hampshire: bridge joint

Work to maintain journeys by undertaking maintenance to the bridge which carries the M3 over the railway line continues this week.

Lane closures will be in place on the M3 in both directions from 9pm on Friday, November 1 through to 6am on Monday, November 4.

M3 junction 4 Farnborough, Hampshire: drainage

Work to ensure road user safety by maintaining the drainage system at junction 4 starts this week.

Lane closures will be in place on the M3 southbound and the southbound entry slip road overnight, between 9pm and 6am, on Monday October 28.

Lane closures will be in place on the M3 northbound and the northbound entry slip road overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Tuesday 29 October for four nights.

A3 Catherington/Clanfield, Hampshire: resurfacing

Work to improve journeys by resurfacing a section of the A3 northbound near Catherington and Clanfield takes place this week.

The A3 northbound from junction 2 of the A3(M) to Chalton will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday, October 28 for four nights.

A3 Longmoor, Hampshire to Guildford, Surrey: road markings

Work to renew the road markings along the A3 continues this week.

The A3 northbound from Longmoor to the A31 Hogs Back near Guildford will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday October 28 for three nights.

A3 Hindhead Tunnel, Surrey: electrical maintenance

Work to relocate signal controllers in the cross-passages of the Hindhead Tunnel starts this week.

The southbound tunnel will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Thursday, October 31 for two nights.

Traffic will be diverted through the northbound tunnel in contraflow under a 40mph speed limit.

A3 Guildford, Surrey: slip road widening

Work to improve safety by widening the southbound slip road at the University Interchange continues this week.

Narrow lanes are in place on the A3 northbound and University exit slip road 24 hours a day until March.

A31 St Leonards, Dorset: street lighting

Work to improve journeys by updating the street lighting at the Woolsbridge roundabout starts this week.

The A31 westbound from the A338 Ashley Heath roundabout to the Boundary Lane roundabout will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Monday, October 28 for three weeks (Monday to Friday only).

A34/A303 Bullington Cross, Hampshire: road markings

Work to improve journeys by renewing the road markings at the Bullington Cross junction takes place this week.

The A34 southbound exit slip road and A30 link, and the A303 westbound exit and entry slip roads will be closed overnight, between 9pm and 6am, from Wednesday, October 30 for two nights.

A34 Oxfordshire: junction improvements

Work to refresh the road markings and install road studs at the West Ilsley junction, Chilton junction, Milton Interchange, Hinksey Hill junction and the Botley Interchange, continues this week.

A34 Oxford, Oxfordshire: bridge repairs

Work to repair the surface of the A34 northbound carriageway over the Botley flyover starts this week.

The A34 northbound carriageway will be closed from 8pm on Friday 1 November through to 5.30am on Monday, November 4.

A404 High Wycombe to Marlow, Buckinghamshire: resurfacing

Work to resurface sections of the A404 in both directions between Marlow and High Wycombe continues this week.
