A HAMPSHIRE couple has transformed their home into a house of horrors to celebrate the upcoming Halloween festival.

David and Nicki Kilpin claim they are "not nuts" but simply love Halloween.

Every other year, the Fair Oak couple cover their house from top to bottom in ghoulish decorations for a whole month from October 1.

With a body in the bathtub, severed heads in the stairway and giant spiders in the garden visitors are in for a shock.

They started the tradition by throwing Halloween-themed parties for their four children.

But as they have grown-up the decorations have become progressively scarier.

David, 53, and Nicki, 59, now throw a Halloween party for close friends and family every other year.

For the whole of October, the house is "off bounds" to visitors, while David a mechanic decorates and to "keep the surprise".

According to Nicki, the Kilpins will have lots of children coming round to trick-or-treat.

She said: "We have sweets for them but we don't let them in because we don't want to scare them.

"The tradition has grown since we threw a party for our children.

"It was originally for youngsters and as time went on it has got scarier and we have gone to town."

David added: "I love doing decorating the house.

"I like building things and adding to them. I think it's great. I love Halloween. I would love to do up a whole warehouse."

Nicki added: "It scares me sometimes. For example when I walk around at night.

"For the party, we have fifty to eighty people and a bar outside.

"We do it because we want our children to have good memories.

Nicki who works in recruitment added: "I won't let David decorate the bedroom. It's my sanctuary.

"I need somewhere I feel normal. Visitors do not like going around the house on their own."

David buys most of his horrors and sculptures from the internet and even makes some of his own adding blood, eyeballs, and gore as "finishing touches".
