THEY were the school leavers of 1969 - the young men and women who were about to step out into the big wide world for the first time.

As the Daily Echo of September 4, 1969 read: β€œIt’s like being in a jungle with the lions and tigers of industry and commerce waiting behind every gum tree with lures of bank notes, waiting to gobble you up the minute you get past legal leaving-age.”

The youngsters in these pictures clearly had plans to stay in eduction as they swarmed upon Brockenhurst College for their enrolment day.
