A SOUTHAMPTON sex offender serving a suspended sentence from a court in America has admitted to possessing dozens of indecent images of an underage girl.

Adam James Robinson, 28, was caught with of the images on his laptop, a memory stick and external memory cards at his home in Shirley.

Southampton Crown Court heard all but one of the images were of an underage girl he was talking to via the internet.

Among the 65 images were 21 Category A images – the most serious kind.

Yesterday, Robinson, of Shirley Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of indecent images, ranging from Category A to Category C.

He also pleaded guilty to breaching a previous Sexual Harm Prevention Order by contacting an underage girl via the internet.

The court was told the order was put in place in 2014, after he was convicted of an act of voyeurism.

As previously reported, Robinson rigged up a camera so he could record and view pictures of a semi-naked 13-year-old girl with whom he was infatuated.

In a personal statement, the victim described how Robinson would leave anonymous presents for her and his behaviour was unwanted.

The fact he had gained sexual gratification from viewing her had also disgusted her, she added.

Passing a four month sentence, Judge Nicholas Rowland said the offences were premeditated and involved a significant degree of planning.

At yesterday's hearing, the court also heard Robinson was currently under a suspended sentence, imposed in America, after admitting having sex with an underage girl.

Judge Peter Henry ordered Robinson's most recent case to be adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be produced.

He said all options, including an immediate custodial sentence, were to be considered.

Robinson is now due to be sentenced on October 28.
