DOZENS of people dressed up as their favourite comic book characters to take part in Totton's comic con event.

The Totton Community Comic Con took part over the weekend and saw people from as far as Gosport arrive at the town to take part in the two-day event.

More than 100 people turned up to celebrate all things comic including special guests Chris Barrie and Norman Lovett from Red Dwarf, Paul Blake and Chris Parsons from Star Wars, and Michael Henbury from both Harry Potter and Star Wars.

Daily Echo:

The event was organized by Wayne Streak, who started the event eight years ago.

His son Logan was diagnosed with caner when he was nine-months-old and the comic con was started to raise money for cancer charities.

Logan went through chemotherapy when he was small and now the comic con is to raise funds for the community.

Daily Echo:

This year, the event will be raising money for the Totton and Eling community hall which needs repairs doing to the roof.

Logan has autism, and Wayde explained that he hopes funds raised at the event will also help them start an autism support group in the local area for families with children with autism.
