COLOURFUL bricks are set to arrive in the city when Westquay’s new LEGO store opens its doors to the public.

The brand new shop will open on Thursday October 17, just in time for Halloween.

To celebrate the grand opening involves a four-day event with a series of unique promotions in store and even a LEGO Hidden Side bus where visitors can hunt for ghosts.

All visitors will receive a free tile saying ‘I LOVE LEGO Store Southampton’ during the four days, from Saturday October 26 to Tuesday October 29.

Brick specialists will be in store where LEGO have put their own twist on a traditional pick ‘n’ mix - the pick and build wall - which offers cups that can be filled with lego.

A digital box can wow visitors by coming to life in 3D, allowing people to scan any boxed LEGO set and see the fully-built project, and a minifigure tower can be built where figures can be customised using bottoms, tops, heads, and accessories.

Employment will also be boosted as the store is set to bring 20 jobs to Westquay.

Alison Wood, LEGO District Manager said: “We cannot wait to bring more play experiences, fun and building to Southampton. The new store is loaded full of exciting LEGO big builds, play areas and activities.

“You can even build your own minifigure and take it home, something that is unique to LEGO Stores."

Andy Collyer, General Manager at Westquay said: “It’s great that out of the two stores the LEGO Group is opening in the UK this year, we’re getting one here at Westquay. We already have a thriving events programme and lively leisure scene at Westquay, so with their in-store play experiences and breath-taking displays, the new LEGO Store will fit right in.

“The LEGO Group is sure to have something for all the family in the lead-up to Christmas, and will complement everything else that we have planned.”
