A SOUTHAMPTON school aced top marks in this year's Southampton in Bloom competition.
Wordsworth Primary School won the first prize in the Garden for Learning category, and were awarded Gold certificates for Wildlife Garden and other Garden for Learning categories.
They were recognised against other schools for their nature zone involving a pond, woodland and a wildflower meadow which pupils at the school have developed and maintained themselves, as well as their programme of outdoor learning.
Headteacher Rick Page said: "We are committed to our outdoor learning programme here at Wordsworth. There is nothing more important than an appreciation of the environment and we are delighted that Southampton in Bloom recognises the important work we are doing here."
The competition encourages and recognises residents and businesses with colourful summer displays in their gardens, balconies, containers and public open spaces.
