HUNDREDS of people are expected to flock to an extravaganza of entertainment and fun for the return of an annual event.

The Hiltingbury Extravaganza will take place at Hiltingbury Recreation Ground in Chandler’s Ford on Sunday, September 22.

Running from 12pm to 5.30pm there will be a host of activities for people of all ages to enjoy.

Entertainment will include circus clowns, a climbing wall, dog show, stalls, pony rides and a sheepdog display.

The Extravaganza has been a major event in Chandler’s Ford for more than a decade, bringing the community together.

It is organised by the Hiltingbury Community Association and the Hilt Community Centre.

Vice-Chair at the Hiltingbury Community Association, David Shute, said: “This event is only possible because of the time and help of volunteers and sponsors. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who gets involved - it couldn’t happen without you.”

Visitors will be able to visit the newly renovated Hiltingbury Pavilion and Sports Hall which opened its doors on July 1.

It boasts a fully accessible four-court sized sports hall which has been marked out for badminton, basketball, netball, volleyball, futsal and five-a-side football.

The Parish Council invested £2.1m in the project which has an expected lifespan of about 40-years before it should need refurbishment.

Team leader of the facility, Geoff Mitchinson said: “This is a fantastic building, with a really useful and flexible sports area that can be used for all the sports it has been marked out for as well as others such as soft tennis, dodgeball and table-tennis and short mat bowls. We have a great team here, all of us are very active with sports. We have a really easy to use booking system which there are links to from both Chandler’s Ford Parish Council’s website as well as our Facebook page, you can book your activity and even hire any equipment you might need for your session, especially if you are returning to a sport you haven’t played for years.
