Here is a plea to those people who walk the pavements in residential areas regularly and smoke as they go on their way.
In these areas there are rarely any litter bins, so the cigarette ends are left on the pavement.
In the Bassett area, where I live, this is an increasing issue and I have already spoken with one organisation about their employees' involvement but the promised improvement did not happen.
One solution would be if smokers would be agreeable to leaving the butts in the gutter rather than on the pavement.
It is still littering, but the council road sweepers occasionally do the rounds, and would therefore absorb the litter.
