PLANS have been submitted to create a seventh bedroom at a house of multiple occupation (HMO) in Winchester.

The planning application, submitted by Maria Sealey for 20 Priors Dean Road, in Harestock, would also see alterations to install a window in place of the garage door.

According to a planning statement submitted with the application, the home was bought last year and underwent renovations, including a new kitchen, seven new shower rooms, a new boiler, gas central heating and plumbing throughout, complete re-wire, and the driveway was extended.

The statement said: “The purpose is to offer high quality, affordable shared accommodation to an additional working professional person such as a key worker, a graduate, a local worker or someone who is on secondment with their employment (NB – Not students).

“The applicant is committed to ensuring that the new use of the property does not have an adverse impact upon the amenity of the surrounding neighbours. The applicant carefully screens prospective tenants.”

There have been no comments either in support or objecting to the plans for the three-storey house.

A decision is due by October 3.
