FIREFIGHTERS were called to a Southampton branch of KFC after reports of smoke on the premises.
Crews from all three Southampton fire stations - Hightown, Redbridge and St Mary's - were joined by colleagues from Portchester.
They were called to the KFC in Bursledon Road, Thornhill, just after 2.30pm yesterday.
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "After a thorough investigation, including a search of the roof via a nine-metre ladder, a faulty extractor in the kitchen was found to be the culprit."
