POLICE have issued a fresh appeal in the hunt for raiders who blew up a cash machine in Southampton.

Officers are hoping to speak to a key witness who they believe may be able to help in their investigation.

It comes after a cash machine in Station Road, Sholing, was blown up in the early hours of Wednesday, August 14.

Raiders then stole cash from the free-standing machine, which was located outside the Best One store.

Officers have since reviewed CCTV and are looking for the driver of a small vehicle who was seen driving down Station Road at 1.52am – just minutes before the explosion.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "At 1.52am on Wednesday 14 August, a small vehicle is seen on CCTV to be driving down Station Road, with Best One on its left.

"It then slowly turns right onto Cranbury Road.

"At 1.55am, the cash machine next to Best One exploded and cash was stolen.

"Lots of people heard the incident, but we are keen on hearing from the driver of the small vehicle that turned right onto Cranbury Road."
