FOUR principals have been cast for the Mayflower Summer Youth Project production of Peter Pan: An Awfully Big Musical Adventure this August.

Nearly 300 talented young performers auditioned for 160 spaces in the prestigious scheme, which will see the chosen company spending two weeks in the theatre rehearsing, with the project culminating in three performances of Peter Pan on the Mayflower Theatre stage on August 16 and 17.

The titular role of Peter will be played by Jordan Cambridge-Taylor, Captain Hook is played by Charlie Steggall, Tinker Bell is Isabelle Hepburn and Wendy is Emily Lucas.

This production has been specially written for the Summer Youth Project cast adapted from JM Barrie's wonderful play and features a score with a mix of songs from musicals and recent chart hits.

Mayflower Theatre Chief Executive Michael Ockwell is back directing this year’s project and said: “After last year’s success with our sell-out production of Les Misérables School Edition, we wanted to offer a very different style of show for 2019. Our version of Peter Pan features a large number of local young people and I am delighted that almost half those cast are working with us for the first time.

"I am looking forward to directing this production with our incredible ensemble. The play is about never wanting to grow up and I see the adventure as one big game; I am excited for audiences to see our company having fun as they enact their version of this classic story. While the show is based on JM Barrie’s original script we have added our own spin on it for only three performances which we hope our audiences will never forget”.

Join Peter, Wendy, Tinkerbell and the Lost Boys as they battle the pirates and the evil Captain Hook in the classic story of the boy who never grew up. Journey to Never Land this summer for a fun filled family adventure which celebrates the joy of being young and never wanting to grow up.
