TENS of thousands descended on Salisbury this weekend as the city hosted the national Armed Forces Day event.

Taking over Hudson’s Field, the three-day event included a packed programme of flybys, displays, and family activities.

Kicking off on Friday, the opening day was dedicated to serving military personnel and their families, with live music from Shine for Salisbury winners Duck n Cuvver, and headliners The Feeling.

On Saturday, it was Armed Forces Day, which was marked with a military parade through the city centre, before the Royal Air Force Red Arrows thrilled the watching crowds with a flypast at 10am.

HRH The Princess Royal was also in attendance.

Saturday’s line-up included air displays, and music from Shine for Salisbury winners The Treblemakers followed by The Upbeat Beatles.

Headliners Kaiser Chiefs took to the stage before a firework finale brought a packed day to a close.

Sunday paid tribute to veterans and cadets, with internationally renowned band Björn Again bringing the three days of celebrations to an end.
