A SERIOUSLY injured man is in hospital after being attacked outside a bar.

Police said the 49-year-old man received a serious head injury between 1.30am and 1.45am on Sunday by Boomerang in Hamble-Le-Rice High Street.

Now the man from Hamble is still in hospital days after the assault.

Councillor David Airey, who represents Hamble and Netley on Eastleigh Borough Council, said: “I am very saddened to hear of serious violence having taken place in the centre of Hamble.

“It is to be hoped that the victim makes a speedy and full recovery and that there will be appropriate support for him and his family.”

He added: “It will be important for any witnesses to come forward and assist the police with their enquiries.”

A member of staff from Thaiger Lounge, which shares the same address with Boomerang, said: “No one saw anything here because the bar staff were in the bar on June 23 and I was in the kitchen.

“The chefs didn’t see anything as they were finished by nine o’clock, because the kitchen closed at ten in the evening.”

Eastleigh Borough Council declined to comment on the assault.

A spokesperson from Hampshire police said: “This was at the end of a Saturday night out in the town with a lot of people around.

“If you saw what happened or know who is responsible, get in touch.”

They added: “Either call 101 and quote 44190215856 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and leave information anonymously.”

This comes after a 54-year-old man was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with a serious facial

injury.

Police were called to Yates bar in Above Bar Street shortly after midnight to reports of people fighting in the street.
