THE IRONMASTER in Fareham is run by manager Carol Baker who has been in the pub trade for over 20 years.

The watering hole on West Street is her sixteenth pub and she has been there for two years now.

Going through various name changes over the years it has at one point or another been called The Brass Monkey, The Market Tavern and The Bugle, it finally settled on The Iron Master three years-ago.

Boasting four stars on review website TripAdvisor, Carol describes The Ironmaster as a “family-friendly, warm and welcoming town centre local.”

She said: “I enjoy being in the middle of the community and making a difference in lots of people’s lives.”

The pub offers discounts to anyone who works in the forces as well as NHS employees and students and does charity events, having raised money for the Navy Charity.

According to the manager, the pub is 100% dog and child friendly and there are always treats on the bar for four-legged friends.

Carol, who is a self-described workaholic sets the standards high by not does not allowing swearing on the premises.

The pub is kitted out with several wide-screen televisions where they will be showing the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019.

Outside there is a spacious beer garden which is full of colour, and which won The Ironmaster second place in the pub category of the Fareham in Bloom floral competition,

There is entertainment always on offer with performances from live bands and singers a regular occurrence.

As well as music the pub hosts a quiz night, which Carol said is “immensely popular” and a Dungeons and Dragons game night for fantasy fans. According to Carol whether you are catching up with friends over drinks or enjoying a delicious breakfast or meal with family The Ironmaster is a great pub to visit.
