HEALTH chiefs are offering support for anyone affected by the shocking incident in which a fire-eater was injured on stage in a charity show.

Kristy Cullum suffered serious burns in the NHS Got Talent Show at the Theatre Royal in Winchester on Saturday.

There was around 210 people in the audience including many doctors and nurses who rushed to give Ms Cullum first aid before the ambulance arrived.

She is currently in the burns unit at Salisbury Hospital where her condition was yesterday described as stable.

The event was organised by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust whose chief executive Alex Whitfield said: “Our thoughts are with our colleague and we all wish her a quick recovery. We are in contact with her family and have offered them our support.

“It was upsetting for everybody involved and we are also offering support to anyone affected by the accident. Support sessions will take place at both Royal Hampshire County Hospital and Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital in the coming days. Anyone affected is welcome to attend and should contact engagement@hhft.nhs.uk for more details."

The Theatre Royal said it would conduct a review of the incident.

Ms Whitfield said: "We are supporting the theatre in their review of the accident. On the night, the decision was quickly made to stop the show, which was a fundraising event for the Winchester Hospice appeal.”

Ms Cullum finished third in a similar show involving NHS workers at the same venue in September 2018.
