TWO men have been charged after a serious assault in a Southampton alleyway.
It comes after a man suffered a serious head injury following an assault in an alleyway between James Weld Close and Carlton Road, in The Polygon area.
The 39-year-old was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries, which police said were not life-threatening.
The alleyway, which is near Archers Road, was sealed off for several hours after the incident.
Police arrested a 49-year-old and a 29-year-old, both from Winchester, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Daniel McCauley, of Trussell Crescent, Winchester and Martin David Tee, of no fixed abode were both charged with an allegation of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
They appeared before Southampton Magistrates' Court on Saturday and will appear at Southampton Crown Court on July 5.
