A FATHER and son from Hampshire are set to drive 10,000miles from Beijing to Paris.

Michael and Marcus Eatough, 68 and 38 from Barton-on Sea are set to take part in the Peking to Paris car rally on June 2 until July 7.

The pair will drive a 1965 235 Fintail Mercedes which Michael has owned for the past 15 years.

Michael, who owns eight classic cars said: "I have got attached to this car as it has taken me all over the world."

He has undertaken 15 car rally's in this car and he said that this challenge is set to be his "biggest yet."

Previously he has driven from New York to Alaska, as well as Charleston to Seattle to name but a few.

More than 120 cars will take part in the rally and this is the second rally that Michael will undertake with his son.

Michael added: "It's a huge challenge and you have to work as a team.

"Making mistakes is inevitable but we need to focus on working together.

"The car has to run well as it will have to endure some extreme conditions."

When asked why he likes undertaking rally's Michael said: "The comradeship is great and I get to make friends from all over the world and get to see so many amazing sights."

Michael first started undertaking rally events in 2005 and said he "just got the bug for it."
