A SOUTHAMPTON home could be demolished to make way for eight new properties should plans be accepted by civic chiefs.

Plans to demolish an existing house on Wrights Hill in Woolston have been submitted to Southampton City Council.

The demolition would be followed by the erection of eight new homes including four semi-detached three-bedroom houses and a terraced block of two three-bedroom and two two-bedroom houses.

The development will also have car parking and use of existing access from Wrights Hill.

The new dwellings will be designed in a traditional residential style form with brickwork and feature gables and pitched roofs finished with concrete tiles.

The application has been put forward by agents Vivid Design Studio Ltd. on behalf of Jason Wilkinson of Rivendale Homes Ltd.

In a statement, a spokesperson from Vivid Design Studio said: "The proposals aim to provide additional residential units within the urban area.

"The development will include appropriate car parking facilities and provide suitable vehicular access onto Wrights Hill.

"All new dwellings will be provided with suitable gardens and amenity space along with cycle and bin store facilities.

"The topography of the site is flat and the new houses will sit comfortably within the landscape setting and provide a striking appearance within the street scene to Wrights Hill and Upper Weston Lane.

"The overall design of the proposals will provide simple yet attractive elevations with traditional doors and window fenestrations to create a simple yet striking appearance."

They added that the homes have been designed in a "traditional residential style" following the pattern of development within the area.
