A MAN was taken to hospital after an early-morning robbery at a petrol station.

Emergency services were called to the Esso station in Stoney Cross shortly after 4.23am today following the incident.

A number of men entered the store and attacked a 42-year-old man before stealing cash and cigarettes.

Police say the victim was taken to hospital as a precaution.

An investigation is underway and officers are at the scene.
