PLANS have been submitted for the next stage of a 3,500-home development in Hampshire.

Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties are seeking permission to build 182 homes, along with the associated infrastructure such as roads and pathways, at the North Whiteley development site in Woodlands Chase, off Botley Road, Curbridge.

As previously reported, the green light was given last summer create a major 3,500-homes scheme, which includes schools and community centres and be developed over the next 15 years.

The scheme will also include creating playing fields, open spaces and protected wildlife corridors, while improving infrastructure in the area, including a major spine roads to link into Botley Road to the north and significant improvements to Whiteley Way from the shopping centre down to junction 9 of the M27.

It is being built by developers who are part of the North Whiteley Consortium; including Taylor Wimpey, Bovis Homes, JGP Lakedale and Crest Nicholson.

According to the plans for the current Taylor Wimpey application, 27 of the 182 homes (15%) would be designated as affordable and the homes would consist of one and two-bed flats, and two, three, four and five-bedroomed houses. It would include parking for 437 vehicles.

If approved, construction on this £24million element of the development is expected to begin in September, with an estimated completion date of September 2021.

A decision on the application is due by August 21.
