A DARING grandmother is set to mark her 70th birthday by completing her first ever sky dive.

Julia Stringer, from Bournemouth, will complete the challenge on June 23 in Salisbury as part of CLIC Sargent's Summer Solstice Skydive and will be raising money for the children’s cancer charity.

In 2005, Julia’s daughter Sarah passed away at the age of 21 from Osteosarcoma and Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.

Julia said: “This is such an important cause, CLIC Sargent’s continuous hard work supports countless children and their family’s through some of the hardest challengers they may ever face.”

She has organised a school reunion for former pupils of Beaufort School, Boscombe County Secondary and Stourfield County Secondary School, which will also raise money for CLIC Sargent.

The reunion is for former pupils who attended the school between 1945 and 1953 and will take place at Beaufort Community Centre from 7pm on Saturday, June 8.

Admission is strictly by ticket only and costs £12, which includes a disco and a buffet. There will also be a raffle.
