THE family of a “caring and gentle” biker who died in a crash on a Hampshire road has made an emotional plea to find a driver who they believe could help the police investigation.

Roy Baker’s family is urging the driver of a dark BMW to come forward and help police with the probe into the fatal collision on the A27 near Sherfield English.

Mr Baker, 22, died at the scene of the crash, which took place around 3pm on Sunday, April 7.

Police have appealed for information, but now Mr Baker’s family have come forward to make their own.

The family said: “Our Roy, the most caring, gentle, amazing young man, so loved and liked by so many. He had so many friends all over.

“Nothing was ever too much, he had a heart of gold and a smile to light up any room.

“We couldn’t be more proud to have a son and brother like you our Roy Boy.

“He was the best uncle to his nephew and niece.

“Our hearts are truly broken in pieces, but it’s not goodbye.”

They added: "We would also like to appeal for the driver of the dark BMW car, that was passing through Sherfield English at the time.

“We know you were nothing to do with the accident but please please come forward and let the police know what you saw as the family need to know.”

As previously reported, Mr Baker, from West Dean, near Salisbury, was riding a black Honda motorbike when he collided with a beige-coloured Mini on the A27.

Police launched an investigation into the crash and have since made a second appeal for information relating to the dark-coloured BMW, which is believed to have driven past the site soon after the crash.

PC David Hazlett said: “We don’t believe this vehicle to be involved in the collision, but think the driver could be a witness.

“If you were driving this vehicle please call us as we want to know what you saw by calling 101.”

Mr Baker’s funeral is set to take place at Hollybrook Cemetery on May 1, at 2pm.
