COMEDIAN and television star Simon Brodkin is set to perform at an upcoming comedy festival in Hampshire.

The popular comic, well-known for performing the comedy character Lee Nelson, will take to the stage at Giggles in the Garden, which will take place in Romsey on June 29.

The comedy event, hosted by Romsey-based club The House of Comedy, will take place at Harold Hillier Gardens.

Simon is set to perform alongside a number of other comedians including Tanyalee Davis of Live at the Apollo, Craig Campbell of Russell Howard’s Good News, Geoff Norcott of Live at the Apollo and Mash Report, Orlando Baxter coming from Boston USA of Conan fame and the BBC, Ignacio Lopez of BBC ‘sesh’ (Cardiff) and award-winning circuit comedians Graham Wilkes along with local Elle Bert.

The House of Comedy launched in the town in 2017 at The Plaza Theatre and the event is set to be the biggest of its kind in the market town.

Luke Geddis from The House of Comedy said: “The House of Comedy approached Sir Harold Hillier Gardens to get their view some time back to the start of a comedy movement in Romsey on a festival type feel.

“We are proud of our lineup, all of which had agreed straight away to come and be part of something new in Romsey.”

The House of Comedy took to Facebook to announce that Simon will be performing at the event.

They said: “In this highly-anticipated debut show, the award-winning, critically-acclaimed comedian takes us from his childhood growing up on the mean streets of Hampstead village, to his adulthood as a failed doctor, inept parent and fairly rubbish Jew.”

Residents can purchase tickets online or at Hillier Gardens.

Gates open at 6.30pm and the show will begin at 7.30pm.

Entrants to the festival must be over 16 and under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
