BOXER turned panto star Frank Bruno was a real crowd-puller when he made a surprise visit to a Totton supermarket.
Frank fans shopping at Asda on February 3, 1999, abandoned their trolleys in the aisles to see their hero presenting a cheque to children from a local school.
As the crowds flocked round him like bears to honey, the former fighter seemed modestly surprised by his own celebrity pull.
The star was coming to the end of a successful run of Goldilocks and the Three Bears at the Mayflower Theatre.
āIād like to come back in the summertime. It would be nice round here in the summer,ā said Frank while busily signing autographs at the time.arm Road, Bitterne Park Triangle.
