MORE than 100 new jobs are to be created following the opening of a new care home in Southampton.

The Abbeyfield Society has launched its campaign to recruit over 100 staff at their new Residential Care home on Speedwell Court, Mansbridge Road, where they will be welcoming the first residents in June this year.

The complex will have five households of 16 rooms and will be able to accommodate a total of 80 residents.

Monika Zytowiecka, Speedwell Courts general manager, said: “I am dedicated in providing a high quality service, tailored to the individual needs of each resident.

“The team and I will do anything to ensure that Speedwell Court feels like home to all our residents, their family and friends.”

Deborah Holmes, customer relations manager, added: “We will be no different.

“Our residents will be at the heart of all that we do and offer here at Speedwell Court”.

Construction on the new home is due to finish in the next few weeks with the interior designers arriving to furnish and finish the home at the end of April.

Technology will play a big part in the new care home and makes up a big part of successful care support, allowing the care team valuable time to spend with residents.

The new home will have many social areas including the first floor cinema where residents may enjoy new releases and vintage classics or their own home movies, a coffee lounge to meet friends and relatives and The Lancaster Bar, a pub-style environment offering residents the chance to enjoy their favourite drink or a mocktail.

The home is due to open at the start of June.

Established in 1956, the Abbeyfield Society is a charity providing residential care and support to older people.

The organisation has more than 400 homes and houses in the UK and overseas.
