EVERY week we hear either on the radio or in the Daily Echo that Forest ponies or other wildlife have been killed or maimed on the Forest roads by drivers who do not give a damn about the speed limits, which are generally 40mph.

I personally have been driving on the road from Brook to Fordingbridge, keeping to the speed limit, and you get a car trying to get in your boot. Then, after a while, they will overtake with a two-finger gesture and carry on as if I were standing still.

All speed limits need to be reduced to 30mph across the forest, but it is no good doing this unless the speed limits are enforced with an iron hand.
