A GOSPORT volunteer has been nominated for a prestigious award.
Pat Prior has made the shortlist for a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Soldiering On Awards, for her voluntary service in helping people in the Armed Forces.
The Soldiering On Awards recognise the achievements of someone whose lifetime of dedicated service has provided a significant contribution to the armed forces community.
Pat served in the Royal Navy and Reserves from 1968 to 2005 and has been a lifelong supporter of the Royal British Legion.
She became involved with poppy collecting in 1969 on Navy ships and an active member of the Legion in 1996 when she joined the Lee-on-the-Solent Branch.
She is the Poppy Appeal organiser for there and also for HMS Sultan and Portchester, raising over £400,000 for the Appeal.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on April 5 in London.
