FORMER Saints idol Matt LeTissier, who was one of the big stars in TV’s Harry’s Heroes, has a summer fixture at Eastleigh’s Concorde Club.

Millions of TV viewers watched as Matt, or Le God as he was known to his fans, was put through his paces by former Saints boss Harry Rednapp in a soccer boot camp.

The 72-year-old soccer pundit, who was crowned King of The Jungle, rounded up some of English football’s most beloved icons from the 90s to give them one last chance to conquer their arch rivals Germany.

And the former Saints midfielder was on the winning side as the Three Lions’ old boys overcame all those soccer years of pain and gained revenge for their Italia 90 and Euro‘96 heartaches.

Le Tiss re-created those magical skills, worshipped by Saints fans, to be major goal maker as Harry’s Heroes crushed their German veteran counterparts with a 4-2 scoreline.

The former stars lost nine stone between them after 12 weeks of dieting and exercise. Le Tiss, who led the field in losing weight, was one of the stars of the show as he fought to get match fit. He shed two stone after the rigorous workouts.

Matt will be able to recall his role in the two part series of Harry’s Heroes: The Full English when he headlines at The Concorde on August 8.

Billed as Football Chat With Matt Le Tissier, the audience will be able to tackle the former 49 year-old St Mary’s idol on all the soccer issues of the day and sound out his views on his old club as they fight for Premier survival.

An attacking midfielder with exceptional technical skills, Le Tissier is the second-highest ever scorer for Southampton behind Mick Channon and was voted PFA Young Player of the Year in 1990.

He was also the first midfielder to score 100 goals in the Premier League. He is notable for his record at scoring penalty kicks, converting from the spot 47 times from 48 attempts.

Le Tissier remained at Southampton for his entire professional career, his loyalty garnering special affection from Southampton’s fans who nicknamed him “Le God”.

Following retirement Le Tissier had one of the hospitality suites at the St Mary’s Stadium named after him and also an apartment block built on the old site of The Dell.

Off the field he has scored a huge hit in the media world and is popular on the after dinner speaking circuit.

Since 2005 Matt has been regularly seen as part of the team at Sky Soccer Saturday with Jeff Stelling, Phil Thompson, Paul Merson and Charlie Nicholas.
