Michelmersh Silver Band was crowned West of England First Section Champions
A TEST Valley band is celebrating a major achievement.
Michelmersh Silver Band was crowned West of England First Section Champions and will represent the West of England at the National Brass Band Championships in Cheltenham in September.
The band travelled to Devon at the weekend to compete in the West of England Regional Brass Band Championships held in Torquay.The set test piece this year was Gilbert Vintner’s Symphony of Marches. Band chairman Adam Smith said: “This really is a huge achievement – a testament to their talent and their hard work, and very well deserved. We relish the challenge of representing the entire West of England in the National Finals later this year.”
They beat 15 other bands.
