A HUNT has been launched for a missing pensioner in Winchester.

Anthony Hayter, 80, from Winchester, went missing yesterday at 12.30pm.

The police said he was last seen popping out for a short walk but has not been seen since.

Crews from Winchester Fire Station were called at 1am today to assist the police with the search around the Weeke area.

The pensioner is described as white, with short black hair , slim build.

Hampshire police said he was last seen wearing two olive green fleeces, a white shirt loose fitting, brown cord trousers and a green hat.

Inspector Louise Kennedy, said: “Together with Anthony’s family, we are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

“Anthony has links to the Ringwood area so it's possible he might have travelled outside of Winchester.

“If you live in the Winchester or Ringwood areas, please check your sheds and outbuildings in case Anthony is sheltering inside.

“If you have any information that could help us, please call us on 101 as soon as possible.”
